Patricia Brown

March 17, 1948 — December 2, 2020

Patricia Ann (nee Gambrel) Brown, 72, entered our eternal home above on December 2nd, 2020, filled with peace and love from her earthly family.

She was born to Homer Gambrel and Ada Christine Settles on March 17, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended Taft High School.

Ada Christine Settles had two more children, James Larry Smith, and Joseph Allan Smith. Unfortunately, they lost their mother early on, but the siblings formed a lifelong bond.

Patricia found fulfillment in serving people, always opening her home to those who needed shelter or inviting someone to a holiday gathering so they would not be alone. After raising five children, she found herself in a maternal role again, helping to raise her grandchild, Adrin Josiah Reyes. When she lost her brothers, she was devastated, but she found solace in being there for her nieces and nephews.

She delighted in annual traditions such as buying new Easter outfits for her children and grandchildren. Like most grandmothers, doting over her grandchildren was one of her favorite pastimes. Patricia loved to cook and on New Year’s Day, she would have plenty to eat, including greens and black-eyed peas for good luck.

God was an important part of her life and she connected with him as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Patricia was infamous for driving a taxi wherever she lived: Cincinnati, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Sacramento. Due to her knee surgery, she had to find a new career, so she became a home caregiver. We believe she finally found her calling.

Patricia’s earthly family will miss her, as she is survived by her children, William David (Denise), Christina Louise (Jeff), John Kevin (Jackie), Michelle Susanne (Sunny), and Jennifer Ann; ten grandchildren; and eight, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer Gambrel and Ada Christine Smith (Settles) and her brothers, James Larry Smith and Joseph Allen Smith.

On June 26th, 2021, at 1:00PM, family and friends are welcome to attend her graveside service at the Canton Cemetery and Funeral Home at Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery, 10685 East Cherokee Drive, Canton, Georgia 30115, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved brother, Joseph Allan Smith.
